Dear Neighbor,
I grew up in Kings Grant and returned here to raise three daughters with my husband because I believe in this community and in its schools.
Our local representatives should be engaged and accountable. Showing up to School Board meetings, school events, and communication with constituents are duties that shouldn’t be shrugged off. I felt called to step up because our community deserves excellent representation.
As a mom, art educator and community advocate, I know kids need access to learning that challenges, nurtures and prepares them for the future. We need great schools, and I believe great schools are built on trust.
School to family. Teacher to student. Leader to teacher.
I know this firsthand.
As a PARENT, I know strong schools are built in relationship with families. Schools that provide clear and frequent communication make it easy to support our kids’ learning and mindsets. My husband and I feel connected to our daughters’ schools, and in turn we pour our volunteer time and resources back into the school community.
As a STUDENT, my classes in studio art transformed me because my teachers built an environment of possibility, inspiration and genuine care. Students learn best from teachers they trust.
As an EDUCATOR, I was able to prioritize my students’ learning and well-being because I knew school leadership had my back. Support stemmed from a shared love of teaching that extended to mentorship, professional development, and constructive feedback that helped me become better for my students.
I have the heart for service, and I’m following my calling to serve on School Board. I have faith in our power to support strong schools for our kids, families, staff, and city. By bringing the whole school community into the conversation and listening before deciding, I will proudly represent the voices of our district — because strong schools are built on trust, and I'm ready to earn yours.
Sincerely,
